Hockey’s next big thing from the OHL pipeline seems to be Shane Wright of the Kingston Frontenacs. Earlier this year, the 15-year-old became just the fifth player to be granted exceptional player status by the league, joining the likes of John Tavares and Connor McDavid.

And now, Wright can make a claim that even Tavares and McDavid can’t. After being named an assistant captain for the Fronts, he’s the youngest player to be named a team captain in CHL history.

Leading a team would be a challenge for just about any 15-year-old, we’d imagine, but it would be seriously impressive if Wright can live up to the A.

Of course, Wright’s body of work to this point has been all impressive. He's in the running for the top pick in 2022, and from his highlights, you can certainly see what all the hype is about. Through 28 games for the Fronts, he’s netted 16 goals and 13 assists.
