It might be 2020 now, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to still hand out some overdue Christmas gifts.

On Thursday the Washington Capitals returned to the ice for the first time since New Year’s Eve and 6-foot-3 defenceman Jonas Siegenthaler had a funny gift waiting for him on the bench.

We’re not sure who drew Siegenthaler’s name in the Secret Santa draw, but whoever did decided to gift their teammate with an extremely long hockey stick.

It might have been a little too big for Siegenthaler, but the 22-year-old reminded us that it’s the thought that matters as he took his new stick out onto the ice for a test run.

The extra-long reach is pretty great, but good luck getting a shot off with that thing.
