John Tavares is officially a Maple Leaf and Islanders fans couldn’t be more upset.

After New York desperately attempted to retain his services, Tavares selected to come home to his native city of Toronto with the hope of winning a Stanley Cup. On the surface, it’s tough to blame him for choosing the superior Maple Leafs at this point of his career, but deep down, Islanders fans are still feeling salty about it and their anger has been on full display on the internet.

Tavares’ uncle, who happens to also be named John Tavares, is one of the greatest Lacrosse players in history and has his own Wikipedia page. In the description, he was briefly described as the “uncle of a snake John Tavares.”

The text was quickly fixed afterward.

So… the fan took it upon him/herself to edit his uncle’s page? Why wouldn’t they just get on to John’s (junior) page and do their damage there? Pretty cowardly move if you had to ask us.

Islanders fans have been finding other ways to express their displeasure with Tavares’ decision. After becoming a free agent, members of Isles nation were quick to burn their former captain’s jersey.

It’s going to be a long, long 2018-19 season for the Islanders and their fans.
