It's been an interesting season for the Colorado Avalanche so far.

Back in November, the team moved on from Matt Duchene as they dealt him to the Senators in a blockbuster deal and they got quite the haul back from Nashville and Ottawa.

Nathan MacKinnon has stepped up as the face of the Avalanche franchise now that Duchene is gone and the Avs have been much better than they were last season.

That said, Thursday night Colorado dropped their fourth straight game, the latest of which came against the best team in the East, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Penalties were an issue in the loss as the Avalanche took five penalties and allowed one power play goal.  One awesome moment for the Avs did come from taking a penalty, though, and the moment involved Sven Andrighetto and a young Lightning fan.

If that kid's smile doesn't warm your heart, than nothing will.

You can see how surprised he was that Andrighetto waved back, and there's now way he'll ever forget that moment.
