The results are in! Player polls conducted by the NHLPA have come back to reveal some of the expected, and some of the surprising opinions from around the league. The players filled out a ballot to answer questions such as the hardest player to play against, the best/worst ice to play on, and their favourite player growing up.

One question that most fans could have anticipated was which coach would you most want to play for. The result of this question was also fairly easy to predict – Joel Quenneville.

Quenneville has been around the league forever. In fact, he just tied up Al Arbour for second most games coached on Thursday.

On top of that, he has won the Stanley Cup a three times with the ‘Hawks, and also enjoyed successful coaching careers with the Avalanche and the Blues.

The success is there, the experience is there, and Quenneville also just seems like a fairly reasonable person to get along with. It’s no surprise players desire him as their bench boss.

Saying that, Quenneville doesn’t necessarily want it to be that way. He joked with the media that he’s become too soft.

Ol’ Quenney is softening up. Maybe this will be the trigger for the longtime NHL coach to start cracking the whip again.
