This pattern of Los Angeles teams signing away championship-winning Toronto Raptors could get tired in a hurry.

A day after Serge Ibaka agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, it appears that the Raptors’ centre depth could be further compromised by the Lakers, who are in hot pursuit of Marc Gasol. According to Shams Charania, the opportunity to contend while living in Los Angeles are appealing to Gasol.

It would definitely be a blow if the Raptors lost both of their centres in free agency, especially if restricted free agent Chris Boucher walks as well. The team has some paths to replacing their bigs, but they are still hopeful that Gasol returns to Toronto.

Hey, after taking care of their top priority this offseason and bringing Fred VanVleet back as a much wealthier man, it’s all house money anyway! The Raptors have little to complain about, regardless of how they resolve their centre situation.
