Albert Pujols is one of those baseball legends that everyone seems to love. The Dominican slugger has spent 19 years in the league, bringing him to the ripe old age of 39, but interestingly he had never played in against the St. Louis Cardinals in St. Louis.

This is mostly attributed to the fact that he spent the first 11 seasons with the Cards, racking up some of his best years including three MVP honours. Beyond that, the move to the Los Angeles Angels took him out of the National League and placed him in the American League, so other than the sparse interleague action the two teams would play, he didn’t have a chance to play his former club.

In St. Louis as an opposing player for the first time, Pujols did not disappoint. He crushed a bomb to left field, as he’d done so many times at Busch Stadium for the Cards.

The special moment was made even more special by the crowd, who rose to their feet and game him a standing ovation in a genuine act of joy.

How can you not love a moment as pure as this?
