It’s a well-known fact that John Tortorella has one of the shortest fuses in the league. The fiery coach has hopped around the league a bit, but currently he is working to continue his revitalization of the Columbus Blue Jackets. On Monday, Tortorella was approached by another face of the NHL who isn’t afraid to dish it out.

Alex Ovechkin seemed to be unhappy about getting hit in the face by the butt-end of Matt Calvert’s stick.

The incident landed Calvert a match penalty, but it wasn’t enough for Ovi, who clearly believed there was more to it than that. Ahead of the 2nd period, Ovechkin skated over to the Jackets’ bench to give the man behind it an earful. As should have been expected, he received an earful from John Tortorella right back.

While it is nearly impossible to prove whether or not a coach had something to do with a player acting out, some teams take it upon themselves to call out their opponents.

Unfortunately for Ovi, Tortorella is ready to go toe-to-toe with just about anyone at just about any time.
