The Washington Capitals defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 in the Stadium Series outdoor game at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday night.

By notching his 40th goal of the season, and 598th career tally, Ovechkin climbed his way up a special list of players to have scored multiple 40-goal seasons.

Prior to the start of the game, the camera’s couldn’t help but notice Ovechkin wearing no pants while playing soccer during a little pre-game warm-up.

Those hockey legs, man.

Ovechkin was all business during the game, but after the outdoor battle was concluded, the NHL Network's Jamie Hersch caught up with the Great 8, and asked him about the Capitals perfect 3-0 record in outdoor games.

Ovechkin wasn’t even provoked with a question on the playoffs, so you know he’s already looking forward to playoff hockey and getting another chance at exercising the Capitals postseason demons.

Washington has never exceeded the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs under Ovechkin's tenure. As of Sunday morning, the Caps had a two-point lead over the second place Philadelphia Flyers in the Metropolitan Division.

Is this the year that the 32-year-old Ovechkin and the Caps make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, or farther? Time is ticking away, and the playoff window could be closing in the next few years.
