Following yet another video surfacing of Jacob Blake being shot in the back seven times by a police officer, as well as the follow up protests surrounded by the controversy of Kyle Rittenhouse opening fire at the subsequent Kenosha protests, the sports world was one of many facets to react strongly.

Players in various sports organizations boycotted playing games, often accompanied with strong social justice statements, while just about everyone had something to say. Beyond the talk, though, there has also been action.

LeBron James is leading the charge with his More Than A Vote organization, designed to help underprivileged communities vote. One of the points LeBron made was that some of the voting situations in these communities are disorganized and slow, while more affluent neighbourhoods voting is made much easier.

In the wake of yet another police shooting, this time of Wisconsin’s Jacob Blake, the sports world is trying to figure out ways to be more active in the battle against social injustice. One way that this is happening is by transforming sports stadiums and arenas into voting stations in hopes that more people can vote that otherwise wouldn’t.

LeBron continues to show why he’s so much more than an athlete.
