There have been a number of rumours about the beds that the Japanese built for athletes to sleep on at the Tokyo games.

We hate to break it to you guys but they are simply not true. Yes, they are made out of cardboard but there’s a good reason behind it! They were created in order to be sustainable and comfortable. They can support up to 440 pounds, and are reportedly sturdier than wood. What’s wrong with that?

Well, after hearing that they were made of cardboard, many jokes and rumours about the beds started to spread like wild fire. U.S. National Team runner Paul Chelimo even shared on his Twitter photos of the beds, claiming that they’re unsturdy and strictly only for rest.

Well, Irish Gymnast, Rhys McClenaghan put the rumours to rest on Monday. He tweeted out a video of him testing the bed and proved the people wrong!

We love this greener games idea!
