In case you didn't notice, with a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins quietly slid into first place in a very tough Metropolitan Division.

We know the Pens have one of the best players of all-time on their roster, but we still have one question: how?

The Penguins have every reason to be having a bad season. Their lineup has been riddled with injuries at an unbelievable rate, and yet, despite having to do it with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's roster, they just keep winning.

So again. HOW?

Tonight's win over the Maple Leafs was a prime example of that.

With key pieces like Dumoulin, Guentzel, Bjugstad, Marino, and Aston-Reese all sidelined with injuries, the Pens' lineup was already looking pretty depleted.

Then, at the last second, Evgeni Malkin left warmups with the flu, and was a last minute scratch.

This gave Cornell alumni Anthony Angello his fifth crack at playing in the NHL, and  in a game he wasn't even supossed to play in - his first NHL goal, too.

With that, Angello became the 27th player to score for the Penguins this season. TWENTY SEVEN.

We're not sure how they keep doing it, and neither is Twitter.

If we've ever counted the Penguins out, this is our formal apology.
