Arguing with the referees seems like a part of hockey as natural as scoring goals and getting penalties.

It's not something anybody really enjoys, and it's definitely not something that's ever really productive.

It's just something that happens.

More often than not, arguing with the refs makes things worse; especially about penalties. When have you ever seen a ref change their mind about a penalty, after all?

Before tonight, we couldn't have really thought of one definitively. That changed, though,

In tonight's Leafs game against the Penguins, Jake Muzzin was assessed a high-sticking penalty on the Pens' Dominik Simon. And then? He wasn't.

After a review, it was determined that Simon had actually high-sticked himself.

While the call left many fans scratching their heads, referees being able to review high-sticking double-minors was apart of this year's rule changes at their own discretion.

Ya learn something new everyday.
