With just two NHL games on the docket following All Star Weekend, Monday looked as though it was going to be a slow one in the hockey world. Was that ever not the case.
Not only did the Dallas Stars acquire bruising defenceman Jamie Oleksiak (brother of Canada’s sweetheart Olympian Penny Oleksiak) from the Pittsburgh Penguins, but the Toronto Maple Leafs also finally bolstered their blueline with a trade for Jake Muzzin – a move that some fans have been chomping at the bit about for quite some time.
One question that may have lingered in Toronto fan’s minds (maybe privy to all the speculation that Toronto Raptors superstar Kawhi Leonard may prefer LA over Toronto purely due to weather and lifestyle) is the question of whether Muzzin wants to join the Leafs. Just go ahead and dispel any thoughts that he doesn’t, because he most definitely does.
He pretty much covered all his bases there. It wasn’t just the classic “excited to join the team” either. There was a little bit more emotion in the way he chose to describe his feelings.
We’re sure Leaf fans will be very welcoming to their newest edition as well. It’s not the first time they’ve welcomed home a big acquisition this year.
