Amid gruesome foot injuries, Antonio Brown has also battled the NFL on an equipment policy that prevents him from wearing his preferred helmet, the Schutt AiR Advantage.

On Monday, an arbitrator ruled in favour of the NFL, which doesn’t certify helmets more than 10 years old (such as Brown’s) for use in games or practices.

Previously, Brown had threatened to retire over this issue, but it seems like he’s since backed off that stance; he’ll rejoin the Raiders on the field once his feet recover, after all.

It looks like #AntonioBrown won’t be walking away from football 👀

Interestingly enough though, ProFootballTalk reports that there’s a way that Brown could still play with his preferred helmet model, even if not his specific helmet.

Since production of that helmet was discontinued in 2011, it’s still possible in theory for Brown to use one in his size that was manufactured within the NFL’s 10-year window, if he can get ahold of one.

Well, as long as he’s staying in the game, we think the Raiders will be satisfied. It would be pretty brutal to lose a receiving talent such as Brown this close to the start of the season.
