The Raiders’ time in Oakland is coming to an end as the team is preparing to relocate to Las Vegas as early as the 2019 NFL season.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden recently spoke with Sports Illustrated’s S.L. Price about his new head coaching position and the state of the Raiders. During the interview, Gruden described the Raiders’ relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas as “kind of sad” and then added, “What will they have once we go?”

Well, one team that will still be calling Oakland home even after the Raiders leave will be the Oakland Athletics, and they weren’t too pleased with coach Gruden’s comments.

There’s no doubt that Oakland residents are going to miss the Raiders once they leave town since they helped make the city what it is today, but to say the city will be left with nothing is a shot at the Athletics and their nine World Series trophies. Not to mention the Golden State Warriors play down the street from the Raiders (for now).
