Baker Mayfield has been the target of a lot of criticism over the past couple of days, some of the harshest coming from former NFL head coach, Rex Ryan.

Ryan is currently without a head coaching gig and is working for ESPN as an analyst. So, this week when Ryan called him “overrated as hell” on Get Up!, Baker had the perfect response. He used the wise words of his own head coach, Freddie Kitchens, who told him “If you don’t wear orange and brown, you don’t matter.”

Mayfield went on to point out that not only does Rex Ryan not wear orange and brown, but “Rex Ryan doesn’t have any colours right now for a reason. So, it’s okay.”

Ouch.

He’s definitely got a point as well. Rex Ryan is 61-66 in his career as a head coach, which is a pretty big sample size and not a favourable one. Mayfield has definitely underperformed this season with 3 touchdown passes and five interceptions on the year, but it will be interesting to see if he’ll be able to bounce back.

He was a popular breakout candidate for many people participating in fantasy leagues and with OBJ and Jarvis Landry as his wideouts, the team definitely has the talent to support him.
