It’s an exciting time to be a Canadian tennis fan right now, with the way that Bianca Andreescu is climbing the ranks. After Serena was forced to retire from the Rogers Cup final due to injury, Andreescu was able to win her second title of 2019, and this one made her the first Canadian to win on home soil in 50 years.

Per Mark Masters, Andreescu will rise from No. 27 to No. 14 in Monday’s updated WTA rankings, and as you can imagine, she has even higher expectations for herself.

Could the top spot be next up for Andreescu?

Andreescu entered the year ranked No. 152, and considering that she’s still only 19 years old, it has already been an incredible ascent so far. Just how good can she continue to get?

It would’ve only been more poetic if she was able to knock off Serena in a full match that wasn’t disrupted by injury, but even still, winning a title on home soil in Toronto is a special one for Andreescu.
