Blake Wheeler is staying level-headed despite the Jets success this season and he offered a bit of a wake-up call to anyone getting ahead of themselves.

In an interview where Wheeler praises the city of Winnipeg for their passionate fan base that offers an exciting place to play every night, he also wants fans and media to pump the breaks a bit. The captain of the Winnipeg Jets feels as though people need to take things step by step and start focusing on making the playoffs before they talk about winning it all.

This is exactly what you want to hear from your captain, but we don’t think that’s going to stop anybody from speculating. The Jets are sitting in second in third in the Western Conference while playing in the most competitive division in the league, and they’ve done so without their number one centre for a large portion of the season.

People were talking about the Jets being 2019 Stanley Cup Champions years ago because of their organizational depth, but things seem to have sped up a little bit.
