Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has finally spoken about his controversial play from the end of Game 3.

The 30-year-old became public enemy number one in Columbus (and many other parts of the hockey world) after he deliberately punched Blue Jackets defenceman Scott Harrington in the back of the head with 1:01 left in the third period. Fans were essentially calling for Marchand’s head after the incident and less than 24 hours later, he admitted that the play was “unnecessary”. With that said… apparently he doesn’t regret it.

Why even say this Brad?! Why?!

Whether DeBrusk was taking punches or not, come on man… Not cool!

The punch was reviewed by the league and to the surprise of many, Marchand was not disciplined for his actions. Fans weren’t exactly thrilled with the league’s decision.

It’s been one thing after the next this postseason for the pesky winger. Just two games ago he was once again in the spotlight after intentionally stomping and breaking Cam Atkinson’s stick. He was not penalized for that either and to make matters worse for CBJ fans, Boston eventually won in overtime.

Whoops 🤷♂️👀 @bmarch63
