Brad Marchand has a special quality about him. It’s the quality to be a threat on the ice while simultaneously being the biggest irritant. Mix the two together and you’ve got an opponent that you really, really, don’t want to play against.

Brandon Prust thinks he has the answer. Just spend a little money and put Marchand in his place. Two seasons ago Prust was playing for the Vancouver Canucks when he did just that, spearing Marchand in the groin and leaving him crumpled on the ice. Must’ve felt good for a moment, but afterwards Prust knew he’d have to face the music. In the end, the spear ended up costing him $5,000 – following Marchand’s infamous lick on Ryan Callahan, Prust reiterated that it’s the best money he’s ever spent.

It’s not the first time he’s mentioned that he regrets absolutely nothing about the spear. When it initially happened, it didn’t take long for Prust to admit he didn’t mind the fine at all.

While his comments may be a little tongue-in-cheek, people seemed to generally agree with Prust and his nut-shot to Marchand.
