Clayton Kershaw is very good! He’s faltered in some slight ways this season, but there’s still no denying that he’s one of the best pitchers in the game — you only have to look as far as his last outing, a shut-down performance against the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS, to see that.

And that makes it so much more impressive that Brandon Woodruff, a relief pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, smoked the absolute lights out of this 407-foot dinger on Kershaw.

After being taken yard by a reliever, Kershaw was yanked in the fourth inning for the shortest postseason start of his career. There were other contributing factors too, but mostly, we imagine that manager Dave Roberts was just as shocked as were by Kershaw being taken yard by a reliever.

Woodruff’s solo bomb was the third instance of a relief pitcher hitting a home run in the playoffs, and the Brewers staved off a late comeback effort to win Game 1, 6-5.

Your move next, Yasiel Puig.
