The first two rounds of the playoffs have been busy for the San Jose Sharks, who have played a pair of seven-game series so far. Maybe that’s part of the reason why Brent Burns is leading the playoffs in time on ice by an absolutely ridiculous margin.

Through 14 games, Burns has played a whopping 408 minutes and 49 seconds. His average time on ice per game (29:13) already leads all skaters, but throw in the sheer quantity of games, and it isn’t even close.

His teammate, Erik Karlsson, comes in second by nearly a full hour with 355 minutes played, while the Stars’ Alex Pietrangelo is a close third with 351.

One of this year’s Norris Trophy finalists, we’re used to seeing the Sharks lean on Burns. He finished seventh in average time on ice during the regular season, and he’s only stepping up his contribution as the games matter more.

He’s gotta be exhausted, right? But there’s no taking your foot off the gas in the playoffs. Burns and the Sharks are back in action on Saturday night, for Game 1 of the West final against the Blues.

The Conference Finals are set. Who’s meeting in the #StanleyCup Final? 🤔
