After years of trying to make a championship run in the playoffs, the goal finally appears to be within reach for Kyle Lowry and the Toronto Raptors. They’ll have a chance to clinch their first ever championship in Monday’s Game 5 against the Warriors.

While Kawhi Leonard has been responsible for the heavy lifting for Toronto in these playoffs, Lowry has been crucial both this year as well as in previous seasons just to build to this point. He’s been a rock for the Raptors throughout the most successful era in team history.

It leads to some interesting questions about how to square the legacy that Lowry leaves in Toronto within the greater picture. Blazers guard C.J. McCollum is wondering out loud, if Lowry and the Raptors can win it all this year, is that good enough to get him in the Hall of Fame?

It’s a bit of a premature question to be asking before the Finals are even over — obviously, Toronto’s focus is just on finishing the Warriors off — but sometimes, as a fan, you do wonder about these things.

As a five-time All-Star, Lowry certainly has a chance at the Hall of Fame, and for what it’s worth, the Basketball-Reference statistics website estimates his Hall of Fame probability at 45.6 percent.

Right now, the replies to McCollum’s tweets seem to be pretty mixed, but you have to figure a championship and however many more years of high-level ball he has left would gas Lowry’s odds a good bit.
