With the World Championships officially starting on Friday from Slovakia, Team Canada put their team chemistry to test, suiting up in the first and only pre-tournament game on Tuesday.

The Canadians erased three one-goal deficits, dropping Team Austria 7-5.

Kyle Turris, Anthony Mantha and Jonathan Marchessault lead the way with a goal and an assist each.

Matt Murray, who was appointed the No. 1 goaltender by head coach Alain Vigneault to open the tournament, turned aside 11 saves on 15 shots for the win, while Carter Hart came in for the third period and made two saves on three shots.

Maple Leaf centre John Tavares sat out the game but will be in the lineup on Friday against Team Finland.

Canada's lines looked as follows.

Sean Couturier, Jared McCann, Anthony Cirelli and Mark Stone notched the other markers for Canada. Canada outshot Austria 50-18, who nursed a lineup with only one NHL player in Michael Raffl.

Kyle Turris earned Canada's play of the game honours.
