MLB Players' Weekend is right around the corner (August 24th - 26th) and every player (that chooses to participate) will have a nickname on the back of his jersey for the weekend.

Obviously this is a way for players to have some fun and for the league to appeal to a younger demographic, so most of the nicknames are funny and some even include emojis.

Canadian Joey Votto's however, chose to honour a WWI Poem that all Canadians are familiar with.

Votto's nickname on the back of his jersey will read "In Flanders Fields."  The poem was written by John McRae (a military doctor) during World War I.

Hats off to Votto for honouring the poem and the soldiers that fought in the war with his Players' Weekend nickname.
