Most Olympic athletes are excited when winning a silver medal, but there are certain Olympians that expect more out of their time at the Games.

For Canada there is a large group of these athletes on both the Men’s and Women’s hockey team. There’s no doubt, especially considering how the gold-medal game was decided, that a silver medal is a great honour, but in those moments of defeat, it doesn’t feel like it for these athletes. You can see it from the tears running down the face, but one member of Team Canada showed it in another way.

Jocelyne Larocque didn’t toss her medal in the crowd, but she did take a page of of Lias Andersson’s book by immediately removing her medal and social media took notice.

It’s a tough loss for Team Canada, especially in the format that basically everyone hates in hockey. Hopefully they’re able to celebrate their silver medal one day, and of course, they’re still winning the lifetime matchup 3-2.

Of course, it’s possible they feel similarly to Max Pacioretty and Andersson, who definitely go with the first or last mentality.
