Three games into the 2018 PyeongChang Olmypics, Team Canada’s women’s team has picked up where they’ve left off the last two Winter Games.

Canada concluded preliminary round action with a thrilling 2-1 win over the United States.

The Americans pressed hard early on and never let their foot off the gas pedal until the final whistle of the game, but couldn’t solve Canadian goaltender Geneiveve Lacassse, who shined brightly in her first Olympic start and flat out stole a victory for Canada.

The 28-year-old netminder was calm, cool, and collected as she shutdown the Americans. Her penalty shot save on Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson was a game changer  Head coach Laura Schuler handed a start to each of Canada’s three goaltenders, and now has a good problem on her hands deciding whether it should be Lacasse, Shannon Szabados or Ann-Renee Desbiens getting the crease next.

American goaltender Maddie Rooney was strong in net, as the first goal of the game didn’t come until midway into the second period.

Meghan Agosta and Sarah Nurse tallied for Canada. With Agosta’s goal, she surpassed Caroline Ouelette for third all-time in Olympic scoring in Team Canada history. Agosta’s 17 career goals in just two off of the current record held by Hayley Wickenheiser at 17.
