This year was a very promising one for a young and exciting Vancouver Canucks team.

For a team that wasn’t projected to go overly far, the Canucks impressed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They knocked off the Minnesota Wild and the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues before falling to a tough Vegas Golden Knights team in an exciting and competitive seven game series.

When the dust settled on the successful season, though, there was a lot of work to be done for the Canucks. Their cap space situation wasn’t ideal, and Jim Benning and the Canucks front office had a lot of work to do in order to keep the team heading in the right direction. No matter what happened, the Canucks weren’t going to be able to keep all of the RFAs they would have liked.

While Canucks fans understand that, we don’t imagine they were planning to lose…most of them.

Today, Tyler Toffoli signed a four-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens.

This looks like an excellent signing for the Habs, but it makes Toffoli the latest of a few beloved Canucks that fans have seen pack their bags recently. The Canucks have seen Markstrom, Toffoli, C. Tanev and Stecher go, with only Braden Holtby coming their way since free agency started.

Fans aren’t pleased with the work of their GM, and Canucks Twitter isn’t shy in sharing that opinion.

So… what do you think Benning’s next move is?
