The Montreal Canadiens were in New Jersey on Friday night for a showdown with the Devils. The team confirmed earlier in the day that Al Montoya would get the start over Carey Price with it being the first game of a back-to-back, so the 2015 Vezina Trophy winner decided to have some fun with his teammates during the warm-ups.

A lot of players go through the same pre-game routines. Whether it be how they stretch and get dressed, how they get their hands warmed up, or how they interact with teammates and fans, you can usually catch them doing the same thing every single game night. However, the Canadiens goalie decided to introduce a new addition to his pre-game warm-up and teammate Andrew Shaw was the first player to experience it.

Massive hip check, look out.

They’re not kidding when they say to always keep your head up when you’re on the ice, because you never know when you’re going to get hit. We’re still not sure what’s better, the fan’s reaction as Shaw gets leveled by Price or the fact that Price actually took out his own teammate with a beautiful hip check during the warm-ups.

Either way, everyone involved got a good laugh out of the whole thing.
