The turtle neck isn’t the most popular look, but it seems to be making somewhat of a comeback.

In past years, former Ottawa Senators Alexei Yashin rocked one and today, Montreal Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec is basically known as ‘that dude who wears a turtle neck’. Well, the Senators took on the Canadiens last night and Plekanec’s signature look resonated with Senators blue-liner Chris Wideman. So, the defenceman decided to take an old shirt (that belonged to Yashing back in the day) with an extra-long collar around the neck and rocked it during practice. Gotta say though- we’re not sure if he does the look justice…

So… Is this look going to stick? Not sure if he’s got enough years under his belt to pull it off.

It’s kind of tough to get a sense for the whole thing. If NHL rinks were as cold as an ODR it would make a bit more sense, but these guys are playing in a relatively warm arena. Plekanec took some time to explain why he chooses to wear his turtleneck on a gamely basis.

We won’t take you seriously until you do it in a game, Chris.
