The Philadelphia Flyers had their worst performance of the young season to date, falling to the San Jose Sharks 8-2 in the home opener.

The game was a forgettable one, besides the fact that Gritty came down from the rafters before puck drop.

After the game, Flyers captain Claude Giroux didn’t hold back on how he felt about the team’s performance.

Speaking with NHL.com’s Adam Kimelman, Giroux told reporters that the team “played like s*** tonight.”

The Sharks outshot Philly 48-33, with Elliott letting in all eight goals on the night.

"It's a tough game. It's not how we wanted to come out, Elliott told reporters post-game. I think every man in this room is better than that, including myself."

The Flyers will be right back in action Wednesday for a chance to bounce back against the Sens in Ottawa.
