Leafs fans have been excited about Connor Carrick since the moment he was acquired from the Washington Capitals.

Right away he showed an ability to skate the puck up the ice with confidence and smooth stride. Apparently he’s always had that ability though, because even on his first hockey card as a child, his scouting report had him pegged with “Phenomenal skating”. The scouting report was included in a great bio printed onto his first card.

Of course, what makes the bio so much better is Carrick’s caption:

“3’9” 46lbs. Also, was the proud owner of a Charizard at the time. Thanks for sending me this Mom. #SelfMadeScoutingReport”

So, if we understand this correctly, it sounds like he wrote his scouting report himself. So, like we said, even at a young age he had the phenomenal skating and clearly had that same confidence in himself. Carrick will be a key cog in a Leafs blueline that hopes to take a big step forward this season.

He’s definitely been working hard for it as well.
