In sports, there are some pretty unavoidable comparisons that you’re going to hear a lot about. In basketball, it’s LeBron vs. Jordan. In football, maybe it’s Tom Brady vs. Joe Montana. In terms of current NHL players, Sidney Crosby vs. Connor McDavid is a pretty popular one.

The two are likely the most relevant examples of “generational talent” in today’s NHL, and while they began at different times they have been heavily compared. This led to one of the more eye-opening stats on Wednesday, as Connor McDavid scored his 500th career point against the Winnipeg Jets in his 369th career game.

That’s the exact number of games Crosby needed as well.

While it is generally seen that McDavid is the greatest player in the NHL, this goes to show just how legendary Crosby’s career has been. While you can shuffle around a lot of names near the top of the rankings, it doesn’t really matter in the end. Both players are amazing.
