Arizona Coyotes rookie Conor Garland is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team earn a W.  When we say anything we literally mean… anything.

Garland made headlines on Saturday night after scoring the weirdest goal so far of the 2018-19 season. The 22-year-old found himself near the Edmonton Oilers’ crease when he took a Jordan Oesterle shot directly to the face. The rubber disc then slowly but surely trickled past the goal line and left Garland with a massive bloody cut near his left eye. Days later, all that’s left is a massive shiner under his left eye and he basically looks like the biggest #HockeyGuy ever.

Gotta love the fishbowl.

We’ve seen some pretty brutal battle wounds from NHLers in the past. Let’s reflect on last season when Jimmy Vesey took Zack Kassian’s skate to the face. The man’s tooth was literally lodged into his bottom lip! Just nasty stuff…

Or how about Garland’s teammate Michael Grabner, who shared a photo of himself with a black eye after being on the wrong side of a high-stick.

Ouch.

Like a true hero, Garland came back and scored the game-winner in a 3-2 win over the Oilers. The puck was already going to go in before it hit his face, but a goal’s a goal and he probably gained a few more fans after it. What a warrior!
