It’s the moment that every athlete dreams of – taking the Championship-winning shot. While dreams are clouded by the potential glory, the less thought-about scenario is missing that shot, and the resulting fall out.
For Danny Green, the fall out has been scary.
After missing a wide open look with less than 10 seconds on the clock and a chance to take the lead and the championship in Game 5, Green spoke about the reaction from fans. According to Rachel Nichols, Green spoke of him and his fiancé receiving death threats, and a visibly demoralized Green also explains the shot in more depth.
While fan bases can be very unforgiving, it’s tough to see someone go through something like this. Death threats should never be a part of sports.
