DC United reveals first look at Wayne Rooney in an MLS jersey

Every year more and more players from across the pond start making their way into the MLS and the biggest name since David Beckham has just arrived.

A couple of weeks back, it was announced that Wayne Rooney would be making his way to the MLS eventually, but a date hadn’t really been officially stated. Now, DC United has released a video that states when Rooney will play his first game with the squad and gives a first look at him in his new kit.

He'll actually be playing the Vancouver Whitecaps on TSN for his first game on July 14:

Judging by the initial figures, Rooney will be far and away the highest paid player in the league.

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic didn’t sign for as much money as Rooney, his entrance to the MLS will be hard to top. As usual, he came in hot with a lot of ultra-confident quotes including a letter saying you’re welcome to LA Galaxy fans, but then scored a goal-of-the-year candidate and a game-winner in his first game.
