A Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) player scored what should be a goal-of-the-year candidate come December.

In a contest against the Dusseldorfer EG hockey team,  Adler Mannheim Eagles forward Chad Kolarik was sprung on a breakaway after receiving an incredible pass from teammate and former NHLer Devin Setogouchi. After barely managing to stay onside, Kolarik went down on goaltender Mathias Niederberger and stunned him with a beauty between-the-legs shot.

From the pass, to the snipe, everything about this play was perfect. Even the broadcasters’ call was memorable!

Kolarik joins a long list of players who have managed to pull the move off against high competition. Here’s a look at some other memorable ones from the past.

And who could possibly forget Marek Malik’s shootout winner?

We still give the win to Kolarik as it came on a rare breakaway during  gameplay. The goal ultimately meant little, as the Eagles fell to their adversary 4-3, but at least the 31-year-old was able to put home what will likely be remembered as one of the nicest tallies of his career.

Very impressive stuff.
