In building their championship team, the Raptors had to move on from many familiar faces that Toronto had grown to appreciate. Even after bringing in Kawhi Leonard, the Raptors decided last season that another trade was necessary and sent Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright and C.J. Miles to the Grizzlies for Marc Gasol.

Wright has since signed with the Dallas Mavericks in free agency, moving on to his third NBA team after a brief stint in Memphis. He isn’t going to forget Toronto any time soon, though — in fact, his return to Scotiabank Arena on December 22nd is the game he’s most looking forward to this season.

Wright also told Mavs.com that while he doesn’t feel a personal connection to the Raptors’ championship, he still hears the support from Raps fans that want him to get a ring.

“[T]he fans are still saying I should get a ring and they still support me in everything and on Instagram. Every day, fans are messaging me saying how much they miss me.”

The first three and a half seasons of Wright’s NBA career started in Toronto, and he became a key part of Toronto’s bench groups (including that 2017-18 Bench Mob lineup) before the Raptors made the difficult choice to part with him. In Dallas, Wright will have a pretty good chance to emerge as the starter.

Whenever he returns, you know that Raptors fans are going to get loud to show their appreciation.

Back in June when the Raptors secured their championship, Wright took to Instagram to congratulate his former team.

Congrats @raptors ! Glad I was able to be apart of this Team 🙏🏽
