Happy Earth Day, everyone!

In the world of sports, we are particularly thankful for the slopes, fields, ODRs, and other landscapes Earth has provided us to play and compete on. As part of our appreciation, we’ve decided to look back on a time the sports world gave back in a small way.

The 2019 NHL All-Star Game featured a unique initiative, creating a unique set of jerseys for the two teams to wear. Not only was the black-and-white aesthetic very noticeable, and the individual team logos were used for the first time ever, but the jerseys were actually different right down to the material.

Adidas Parley is a collaboration between Adidas and “Parley for the Oceans,” which focuses on upcycling plastic debris in the oceans. The collaboration worked to create the All-Star jerseys using upcycled material.

The jerseys weren’t just for the players, they were made available for fan purchase as well. The jerseys – which ocean plastic is repurposed into comfortable fibers to create the material – were sold for about $200 each.

It's a small initiative, but it’s a step in the right direction. Happy Earth Day!
