Tampa Bay just played through one of the greatest regular seasons in NHL history, tying an NHL record with 62 wins and finishing 21 points ahead of the next closest team in the league.

Everybody around the league realizes that Tampa has been on another level all year and you really see it when you hear Leon Draisaitl talking about the Oilers’ struggles. He’s talking about how most teams lose 2-3 games in a row a couple of times a season and then quickly remembers that Tampa Bay is a team in his league.

Tampa Bay didn’t have a single losing streak of three games or more all season, something that Draisaitl recognized pretty quickly.

Draisaitl spoke a lot more about his disappointments in the season, specifically discussing how he felt about missing the playoffs and what he expects out of the team next season.

Obviously, he was correct when talking about losing streaks with the Oilers, because while a lot of teams might lose 2-3 games in a row a couple of times a season, the Oilers managed to lose four or more games in a row five separate times.

Stopping the bleeding on the scoreboard will be important, but what will be most important is making sure their best player is healthy. McDavid didn’t break anything in his scary fall, so hopefully he’ll be as good as ever at the start of next season.
