Jonathan Drouin and Max Domi haven’t been teammates for long, but apparently they’re already fully committed to each other because Drouin is standing by his teammate no matter what.

Most people in the hockey community were quick to jump on the dogpile of stating their disapproval of Domi’s action in the Canadiens’ preseason tilt against the Panthers and the team , but not Drouin. Drouin believes that the blame should be shared for what many people are calling a sucker punch, because Drouin believes Ekblad should have been protecting himself.

Drouin told this to the Associated Press:

"I saw a pretty big slash from Ekblad on Max, and Max just took matters into his own hands. It's also Ekblad's fault for not protecting himself.”

Domi didn’t end up getting suspended for any regular season games, so we doubt he’ll think twice about his decision. He was definitely a little mismatched in size, but that never seemed to stop his father.

Perhaps he’s trying to embrace a pest role in his game. If he does, he’ll have one of the best to learn from in Brendan Gallagher.

Habs' Domi suspended for the rest of preseason. Thoughts? 🤔
