A lot of hockey fans didn’t know what to expect when they found out the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators would be going head-to-head in this year’s Stanley Cup Final, but the two teams have done a terrific job keeping the fans entertained on a nightly basis.

With everything on the line, both sides have turned the physical play up a notch and have combined for 238 penalty minutes through five games.

Almost half of those penalty minutes were from Game 5, as the Predators racked up 58 penalty minutes to the Penguins’ 42 penalty minutes for a whopping 100 total penalty minutes.

Pretty much every player got involved in the rough stuff in Game 5, including Preds defenceman Mattias Ekholm and Penguins winger Patric Hornqvist. The two exchanged some comments in Swedish, which resulted in Ekholm coming up with a fantastic response when Hornqvist asked his fellow countryman to drop the gloves.

At least Ekholm was just being honest and told Hornqvist he wasn’t trying to offend him, he just didn’t see a point in dropping the gloves. As for Predators goalie Pekka Rinne, he loved every second of their exchange.

We doubt the two will be looking to go at each other in Game 6 on Sunday night, but anything is possible. Especially when the Stanley Cup is on the line.
