Cris Collinsworth is beloved by some, but others aren’t too fond of his NFL colour commentary. No matter how you feel about him for 99% of the game, we only really care about 1%... the first 1% in fact.

THE COLLINSWORTH SLIDE, BABY!!!

During NBC broadcasts in which Collinsworth was involved, the producers instituted an interesting introductory technique where Al Michaels would warm the audience up with a monologue, and then Collinsworth would quite literally slide in on his wheel-y chair.

14 times the Cris Collinsworth slide in was literally everything

The move certainly wasn’t a regular one, but it quickly won its way into the hearts of all of us. Each Michaels’ monologue was choked full of anticipation for the slide, to the point where you would hardly even be listening through the distraction of Collinsworth’s impending appearance. Maybe that’s why they got rid of it.

That’s right – Thursday Night Football between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers kicked off with a steady shot of Michael and Collinsworth. While they were wearing fun hats, most fans weren’t about to let the “Collinsworth Slide” slide (strange sentence).
