Dan Sexton never heard his name called at the NHL Entry Draft following his impressive collegiate career at Bowling Green State University where he recorded 24 goals and 60 points in 76 games, but that didn’t stop him from playing in the NHL.

Following his second year with the Bowling Green Falcons, the Apple Valley, Minnesota native signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks. In his first year with the organization, Sexton played 18 games with the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL, 13 games with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL and 41 games with the Anaheim Ducks.

Sexton played 144 AHL games and 88 NHL games before heading overseas to keep his professional career going. Now a member of HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the KHL, the 30-year-old is playing his third season with the team and is having a fantastic KHL career. On Monday, Sexton picked up his seventh goal of the season and it might be the nicest goal he’s ever scored.

The goal was Sexton’s seventh of the season and came at a key moment in the game as it put his team up 2-1 in the game and they eventually went on to win 3-2.

In 175 games Sexton has 48 goals and 154 points and is currently on pace for a career-season. Through 32 games, Sexton sits tied for seventh in the league in total points and leads his team in points and assists.
