The Elite Ice Hockey League is a league based out of the United Kingdom and consists of 12 different teams.

This past weekend, the Milton Keynes Lightning went head-to-head against the Guildford Flames and things got very physical when the final buzzer went off after the Flames won 3-2 thanks to three third-period goals.

After a bunch of rough stuff took place in front of the net, Lightning defenceman Matt Nickerson had seen enough and decided to leave the bench to join in on the scuffle.

The former Dallas Stars prospect ended up receiving a 25-minute match penalty for abusing the officials, and then he made things even worse by taking a brutal swing at a spectator on his way off the ice.

On Wednesday, the league stepped up and punished the 33-year-old for his actions by handing him a 20-game suspension (6 games for abusing the official and 14 games for abusing the fan).

As a result, the Lightning will not be able to dress another import player during his six-game suspension for abusing the official, but they will be able to dress another import player during the 14-game suspension.
