Fred VanVleet has debatably had the most eventful playoffs of all NBA players. Not only has he gone through ridiculous hot and cold streaks, with the latest being a hot streak of about seven games, Fred also had a baby boy (who many credit as an inspiration for Fred’s slump bust… Fred is not one of those people who believe that though).

Beyond that, he’s been on a team that is now just one win away from an NBA Championship, a team that many believed couldn’t pull it off. Also… he keeps getting hit in the eye?

After suffering an eye injury against the Milwaukee Bucks in the East Finals, FVV took another shot on Friday night. This time it was the elbow of Shaun Livingston that caught him, sending him toppling to the hardwood and knocking out part of his tooth.

Even hockey fans were showing appreciation when he was able to stand up and get to the locker room, bloodied and wobbly, only to return to the bench seven stitches later.

After the game, Fred discussed his injuries, and joked that if this is what being Canadian is, he doesn’t want it.

Fred #VanVleet’s got a lot of respect for hockey players after losing a tooth during Game 4 😅

He looked a little beat up afterwards, and it didn’t take long for him to send out a picture of his new smile, one that he promises he will be “getting fixed quick”.
