Frederik Andersen is one of a couple Toronto Maple Leafs that will continue playing hockey in May and he’s making sure he has a fresh summer look.

Andersen will be participating in the World Hockey Championships this spring and it’s probably no coincidence that the tournament happens to be in his home country, Denmark. Andersen will be one of the biggest names representing the Danes at the tournament with Nikolaj Ehlers still playing in the NHL playoffs.

If his mask is any indication, he’s pretty excited about playing some big games in his home country.

It’s easily the shinest mask we’ve ever seen on an NHL goaltender (Even though it won’t be used in the NHL). Andersen clearly likes his masks flashy. Dave Art is a popular goalie mask designer and he helps introduce a lot of the new styles that goalies use every year.

It will be interesting to see if this shiny style catches on. Perhaps it will have a practical use as well – there are bright lights in the area and he might be able to shine some light in shooters’ eyes.
