The 2017-18 NHL season was an especially special one for the league. Not only was it the 100th anniversary of the league, but it also marked the inaugural season of Vegas Golden Knights – the 31st team to join the NHL in the first expansion since the 2000-01 season saw Columbus and Minnesota start playing.

An expansion obviously adds a wrinkle into the league, particularly by way of the expansion draft. An expansion draft typically leaves the incepted franchise with scraps from other teams that decided to protect their most valuable players, and often time this leads to a few years of trying to build a competitive team. For Vegas, however, they have been able to find success in a number of ways.

First of all, they’re playing extremely well. They are currently sitting at an unexpected 26-9-2 record, which places them 2nd in the overall standings (trailing only the Tampa Bay Lightning). But aside from this very impressive record, they have also made an impact in a different way.

Their social media presence is probably the best in sports.

They have never been afraid to call an opposing team out, or to pump their own tires when necessary – which has been quite a lot so far this season. The fact that they have such an outspoken presence may make this Google mishap that much sweeter for rival fans.

If you type “Vegas Golden Knights” into Google it lists them as 1st in AHL Western Conference Pacific Division. Go ahead, try it.

It is obviously just a mistake, but of all the teams to accidentally be listed as an AHL team, Vegas is definitely the funniest. While their bravado is certainly deserved, the Golden Knights are still the baby of the NHL and this particular mishap just reinforces the point.
