There are some weird habits/superstitions in hockey that are just kind of puzzling when you really think about it. The way a player tapes their stick, puts their equipment on, even the way they drink from a water bottle can look weird at times. And then there’s one that players do both during game play and on the bench that in all honestly, looks kind of gross.

We’re talking about chewing the mouth guard people.

For whatever reason, some players just can’t keep a mouth protector in their mouth. Take the Tkachuk bros, for example, who apparently enjoy chewing on the piece of rubber more than using it to actually protect their teeth. Honestly, what’s the point of even wearing one?!?!?!?!

The #Tkachuk bros really enjoy chewing on their mouth guards 😂😂 @bardown

The boys aren’t the only players in the show who ineffectively use their mouth piece. They’re all over the NHL for crying out loud! Patrick Kane stands out the most, but here’s a group of other notable stars who just can’t seem to figure out its purpose.

Again… This writer would like to point out Kaner for a second. What is that!!!!

There are other pieces of equipment that some players just can’t seem to get. Can we also talk about visors for a second? The Tkachuks don’t fall under this category but think we can all agree that these fellas do. Carl Hagelin, what’re ya doin bud!!!!

To each their own we guess?!
